The Economic Development department is dedicated to fostering community growth through business start-ups, expansions, new ventures, job creation, skills development, business infrastructure improvements, beautification, and creating a welcoming environment for development.

Vision

Our vision for Curve Lake First Nation is to achieve self-sufficiency for both individuals and the community, supported by a land base, economy, and infrastructure that meets the community’s needs.

Mission and Values

The Economic Development, Employment & Tourism Committee and Department are guided by the mission statement, “to provide for the creation of a prosperous community,” while adhering to the values that ensure all community economic development is socially, culturally, and environmentally appropriate for Curve Lake First Nation.

Community Economic Development (CED)

Community Economic Development (CED) is a local initiative aimed at providing economic opportunities and improving social conditions sustainably, especially for the most disadvantaged. CED is a participatory process where communities develop their own solutions to economic problems, resulting in positive changes through:

  • Creating employment
  • Stabilizing local economies
  • Reducing poverty
  • Contributing to environmental health
  • Building on local resources and capacities
  • Increasing community control
