7 Grandfather Teachings
This presentation focuses on understanding the 7 Grandfather Teachings that guide us all in how to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle with ourselves, each other, and the land. We look at these words in Anishinaabemowin, and break them down into English for a better understanding of what these teachings mean, and how we can best use them. This session is about an hour, to 1.5 hours depending on interest level and questions.
Land Acknowledgements
This is a five-session series, designed to help participants examine their personal land connection through the lens of Michi Saagiig Anishinaabe land connection. In order to create a land acknowledgement that does more than check a box, this series walks us through the pre-contact and contact history of First Nations people, and creates a strong understanding of land connection. Each session is 1.5 hours, including questions.
Intro to CLFN
With a focus on land-connection, this presentation is a brief overview of who we are as First Nations people in this area. We discuss the history of Curve Lake as a reserve, the importance of our traditional language, clan system, 7 Grandfather Teachings, and the treaties that effect this area. This session is about 1.5 hours, depending on interest level and questions.
4 Seasons of the Medicine Wheel
This presentation is designed for younger kids as an introduction into the Medicine Wheel, the symbolism and teachings behind the Medicine Wheel, and how the Medicine Wheel can help influence us in a positive way. This session is about an hour, including questions.
